Molds for Casting Your Own Precious Metal Ingots: Many sizes available.
"There are quite a few ways to cast metals. If you don't have a kiln or furnace you can melt small amounts of metals with a
MAPP torch in a scorification dish or cupel. Then as the metal liquifies, pour small amounts into the ingot mold. Add more layers until the mold is full. Dust the ingot with a releasing agent like powdered borax and heat
the mold first, then pour metal into it. It can splatter, so work behind plexiglass. Broken rings or scrap jewelry can be melted. While nuggets can sometimes be
collectible, they can also be melted into ingots. No gold to melt? For practice try melting some non-lead solder (the type containing silver, sold in hardware stores and home centers). It melts easily with a torch and
casting it into an ingot is a start. For gold, smaller bullion ingots can then be cut or hammered
into other forms of jewelry. There are numerous low melting point metals to cast as well-- aluminum and solder containing silver among others -- and a wide
variety of casting molds and ingot molds to choose from below. Make your own molds by using a router or Dremel-like tool on blocks of graphite."
